| “Diana, Diana we now know what we would like you to sculpt for us .... a donkey!” These were the passionate words spoken from a car window when good neighbours returned from their hols. They had been on a walking holiday in a region of France known as Quercy. Their minimal luggage was carried by a donkey which they were to care for and fall in love with. Well they didn’t have to fall in love with him but they did. Of course they couldn’t bring him home with them, but he is now immortalised and enjoyed every day as a bronze sculpture. People have said that this is my best work to date. Quercy is sculpted with a great deal of sensitivity to capture the humble beauty of the donkey. The patina is special in that depicts the animals colouring true to life. We agreed on a limited edition so that others could enjoy this work in exhibitions and perhaps to grace their homes too. | |
