| Rudy the Brown Swiss steer was my first commissioned piece. I took my collection of four bronzes to a gallery and a visitor immediately asked if I did commissions, and hence Rudy came about. Rudy is an enormous gentleman, an animal that displays manly confidence, and is a much loved ‘pet’. I worked from photos, video and sculpted directly from life. I took my work into the adjoining field (which I thought was empty) and found myself nudged by a rather powerful horse. So absorbed was I in my eye to hand coordination that I failed to notice the approach of the horse until I heard his breath. I was able to extract myself and my work without incident and have since taken up riding! | |
